NEYSA Volleyball Program Overview

The NEYSA Volleyball Program is designed to introduce young athletes to the sport of volleyball in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Our goal is to build fundamental skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love for the game while creating a strong foundation for future volleyball opportunities.
This program is open to players of all skill levels — whether they are brand new to volleyball or looking to continue developing their skills.
Through structured practices, skill-building drills, and scrimmages, players will learn the fundamentals of the game while gaining valuable teamwork and sportsmanship experience.

The NEYSA Volleyball Program emphasizes:
  • Skill development and proper fundamentals
  • Teamwork and communication
  • Sportsmanship and positive competition
  • Confidence building
  • Creating a fun and encouraging environment for all players
Our goal is not only to teach volleyball skills, but to help young athletes develop confidence and a lifelong love for the sport.

2026 NEYSA Volleyball Season

Season Format:
The program will begin with a 6-week pilot from May 11th - June 30th. This shorter inaugural season allows us to introduce the program, focus on skill development, and refine logistics as we grow.
During the season, players can expect:
  • Skill-focused practices
  • Age-appropriate drills and instruction
  • Team-building activities
  • Scrimmages and in-house games
This pilot season will help lay the foundation for expanded volleyball programming in future seasons.

Age Divisions:
Players will be grouped by age and skill level as best as possible within the following divisions:
  • Ages 8–9
  • Ages 10–12
  • Ages 13–14
Our goal is to create an environment where players feel comfortable learning while still being appropriately challenged.

No experience required. Players of all experience levels are welcome.
Our coaches will focus on teaching the fundamentals of volleyball while helping each player develop at their own pace. Whether a player is picking up a volleyball for the first time or already has some experience, they will have the opportunity to grow their skills throughout the season.

Practices & Games:
Teams will practice 1–2 times per week, depending on enrollment numbers and gym availability. Practices will be held in the evenings at Northeastern Middle School.
While the primary focus of the program is skill development, we plan to incorporate scrimmages and in-house games throughout the season so players can apply what they are learning in a game setting.
Once registration closes and teams are finalized, families will receive a full schedule including practice and scrimmage information.

Volunteer Coaches Needed:
The response to our new NEYSA Volleyball Program has been incredible, and we are excited to get this program started for our young athletes!
To make this program a success, we are looking for volunteer coaches to help lead our teams this season.
Who can coach?
• Former volleyball players
• Parents who love working with kids
• Teachers or community members
• High school players interested in helping mentor younger athletes
Experience is helpful, but not required. Our focus is on teaching fundamentals, teamwork, and helping kids develop a love for the game.
Coaches will receive guidance, practice structure, and support to help coaches feel comfortable and successful.

If you are interested in coaching or assisting with the program or have any questions, please contact our Volleyball GM Amanda Goldblatt at [email protected]
